Nick's Brasserie is a new restaurant based in the up and coming Riverside neighbourhood around Dock Street in Leeds. Nick Colley, the head chef, has worked as a chef for 12 years at restaurants such as Shears Yard and Live Bait, as well as Chapel Allerton's The Old Police Station, which is renowned county wide for its fantastic menu. Nick is now taking the brave step of opening his own Brasserie.

The building exudes character and the interior's beautiful oak flooring; bare brick, exposed beams and earthy tones are compounded by smart staff in long aprons to create an atmosphere indicative of a traditional brasserie. However, in total contrast the use of glass and stainless steel create a contemporary twist.

Although the menu is mostly British cuisine, there are some influences of fusions from around the globe, to keep it varied and exciting. A rolling capsule menu of 10 appetizers and 10 entrees is changed regularly so that seasonal produce can be utilised and sourced locally in creating culinary masterpieces such as Pot Roasted Spring Chicken with Baby Vegetables, Camembert baked in its box served with crusty baguette, Tempura of Squid with sweet chilli and soy dip and White Chocolate and Croissant Bread and Butter Pudding. There is also an extensive black board for diners in the bar and dining room to choose from, this is changed daily. In the bar there is a separate menu, offering lighter snacks to drinkers and those not wanting a full dining experience.

Nick's Brasserie serves food of an exceptional quality at competitive prices with a wine list that offers a bottle of wine for every budget. Alfresco dining and a quiet backwater location, lend an air of exclusivity that won't break the bank. The all day set menu served from 12 - 7 p.m. is very good value at £12 for 2 courses and £14 for 3.

The non-smoking venue serves a fantastic brunch menu at the weekend with complimentary newspapers, making it the perfect location for a chilled out day of eating and drinking in the sun (or inside when the good old British weather isn't playing ball). An obligatory Sunday Roast will also be on offer.
