Happy shopping!
As a shopping destination, Leeds has it made. There's no comparable city in the north for shopping. Here in Leeds, the Shopping Quarter is very compact and traffic-free, so you don't have to walk far to go between designer shops and the colourful market, or from high street stores to individual boutiques and shops in the Victorian arcades. Since Harvey Nichols chose to open their first store outside London in Leeds, the city has seen a flurry of designers flocking to open stores and boutiques. Vicar Lane and the Victoria Quarter now boast some of the finest shopping in the North of England, with high class stores including Flannels, Vivienne Westwood, Whistles, Jo Malone and All Saints. More than just a shopping centre, The Light brings together exclusive fashions such as Tiger of Sweden, Lambretta and the Manhattan elegance of Phillip Stoner Jewellery with, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, a 13-screen cinema, Esporta Health Club and secure car park. The nearby Corn Exchange, a spectacular Grade I Listed building, has over sixty speciality shops under its beautifully domed roof. The oval building houses stalls and shops selling art prints, jewellery and clothing from up-and-coming young designers. Granary Wharf is a great place to find that quirky present, in one of the funky shops underneath the arches. Weekend entertainers add to the atmosphere. All your favourite high street names can be found within the city centre, in and around the Headrow Shopping Centre and the Merrion and St John's shopping malls. Leeds city centre is now "Alive after Five" as part of a retail revolution, with new later, European opening hours every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. nd, if it's a bargain you're after and a bit of local colour, why not head down to Kirkgate Market, Europe's largest indoor market? A traditional, English shopping experience in the heart of the city, and one where you will find top quality local produce at the weekly Farmer's Market, held on the first and third Sunday of each month. Outside the city centre you'll find the White Rose Shopping Centre, with over 100 retail outlets, including many high street names, free car parking, and excellent facilities for the disabled.
